Rebekah Farthing and Brooke Byrd have been a tremendous one-two punch for the Watauga High volleyball team the last two years. On Thursday night, those two led WHS to a three-game sweep over Cox Mill at Lentz-Eggers Gym. Watauga High cross country coach Randy McDonough has his teams flirting with the possibility of a state championship. Well, the quest begins on Saturday at the 3A Western Regional Championships in Morganton, N.C. And both teams are running with a lot of confidence right now, but the Pioneers have are also going to be a little shorthanded on Saturday.
