The Watauga High girl's basketball team is looking for its second straight win at home against Freedom. Ironically, the Patriots have won 23 straight in the Northwestern Conference after that loss against the Pioneers. Coverage begins at 6 p.m., on WATA 1450 AM/96.5 FM.

ST. STEPHENS, NC - The St. Stephens High wrestling team continued its dominant pace on Saturday at the 3A Western Regional Championships.

Former Appalachian State University assistant coach Buddy Wyatt has landed at Kansas State. The Cynergy 14U Regional Team wins a tournament championship in Boonville this past weekend, Avery High wrestling has 10 state qualifiers, and five regional champions. ROBBINSVILLE, NC - The Avery High wrestling team had 10 state qualifiers on Saturday at the 1A Western Regional Championships. The Vikings also had five regional champions, including one runner-up finisher, a third-place finisher and a fourth-place finisher. River Griffith of the Vikings was the Most Outstanding Wrestler.
