BOONE, N.C. — Ryan Huff's tackle for a 5-yard loss forced another punting situation in the second quarter, but a roughing penalty officially stopped a three-and-out streak from App State's defense.

The Watauga High football team celebrated Senior Night by blowing out McDowell 62-14 at Jack Groce Stadium. The win leaves WHS (9-1, 5-0 Northwestern Conference) in sole possession of first place in the NWC with a huge showdown coming up next Friday night at Freedom. BRYSON CITY, NC – There is a new leader in all-time coaching wins in North Carolina High School Athletic Association football, David Gentry from Murphy. His Bulldogs stunned Swain County 15-14 with a touchdown and two-point conversion in the closing minutes of a tight game on the road on October 18, 2019 to hand the head coach his 413th career victory.

It's been a big day for a pair of Watauga High seniors. Jadyn Kadyk of the girl's tennis team has marched her way into the Class 3A NCHSAA State Tennis Tournament semifinals, and quarterback Anderson Castle has been named a Shrine Bowl selection....

Watauga High senior Jadyn Kadyk won her first-round match at the 3A NCHSAA State Tennis Championships Friday morning. She will face either Laura Cai of Chapel Hill, of Shivani Kotikalapudi of Marvin Ridge.
