Watauga High cross country coach Randy McDonough has his teams flirting with the possibility of a state championship. Well, the quest begins on Saturday at the 3A Western Regional Championships in Morganton, N.C. And both teams are running with a lot of confidence right now, but the Pioneers have are also going to be a little shorthanded on Saturday. Randy McDonough talks with WATA Radio Sports about Saturday's regional championships....

Rebekah Farthing and Brooke Byrd have been a tremendous one-two punch for the Watauga High volleyball team the last two years. On Thursday night, those two led WHS to a three-game sweep over Cox Mill at Lentz-Eggers Gym. The Appalachian State University football team wasn't as fortunate against Georgia Southern, and the WHS football team has a huge showdown with Freedom tonight in Morganton. BOONE, N.C. — A windy and spooky Halloween night included plenty of rain, flurries of snow and a rare home setback for App State.

The honors keep rolling in for former Watauga High volleyball player Emma Clark, the Appalachian State University football team hosts one of its biggest rivals tonight, the WHS volleyball team entertains Cox Mill in the third-round of the state playoffs.
