For the first time in 38 years the Watauga High Pioneer men have advanced to the sectional finals of the state playoffs.

On Wednesday night the Pioneers defeated Garinger, the No.3 seed from the MEGA 7 Conference, 81-60. Watauga will play on Friday night in Boone.  Oldies 100.7 FM will begin coverage of the contest at 6:30pm, as Watauga will face either West Charlotte or Charlotte Vance.

The Lady Pioneers ended their 2009-10 season with a record of 11-13 after a loss to McDowell 63-42.
