Watauga High Athletics Director Jeff Link has announced that the WHS volleyball team will open the Class 4A state playoffs at home Saturday against T.C.Roberson at Lentz-Eggers Gym beginning at high noon.

The Pioneers (20-3) are the No.1 seed from the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference; TCR (11-15) is a wildcard selection from the Mountain Athletic 3A/4A Conference. It's also the first meeting ever between the schools in volleyball.

The winner of this game will play either McDowell (the No.1 team from the MAC 3A/4A), East Gaston or West Mecklenburg (the No.3 seed from the MEGA 7 3A/4A)  in the second round of the state playoffs Tuesday, October 27. WHS would be at home if it advances Saturday.
