Morrison and Whiteside to be inducted in SoCon Hall of Fame PDF Print

Two former Appalachian State athletes will be inducted in the inaugural Southern Conference Hall of Fame on Monday, May 4th in Spartanburg, SC.


Track star Melissa Morrison, a two time All-American, a two-time Olympian, who won 17 Southern Conference championships, who led Appalachian State to eight indoor and outdoor SoCon titles between 1989-1993, and basketball player Valerie Whiteside, who set nine SoCon records, scored 2,944 career points and averaged 25 points-per-game during her career are two of ten selections to be inducted on Monday.
Morrison and Whiteside will be joined by an impressive group of nominees in Jerry West, Arnold Palmer, Sam Huff and Adrian Peterson. These athletes were selected from a group of 254 nominees.
