History vs. Limestone

It's Homecoming Weekend in Hickory as Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Limestone at Moretz Stadium. This is just the third all-time meeting between these two programs at Moretz Stadium.

This is the 80th homecoming football game in school history as the Bears have their eyes set on a third straight win. In LR's most recent outing, the Bears thumped Carson-Newman 59-0 and broke a handful of records along the way. QB Grayson Willingham became the all-time leader in career passing yards and career total yards while RB Dwayne McGee tied a school record with five touchdowns. As a team, the Bears finished with 750 total yards which is the most by any Division II team this seasno and the 40 first downs are a South Atlantic Conference record. The 59 points scored are the second-most any opponent has scored at Burke-Tarr Stadium.

Despite being winless, Limestone has played tough in the first half of the season. The Saints ran out to a 14-0 lead against nationally-ranked Wingate before falling in the second half and lost to Tusculum 24-21. The Saints suffered a few tough injuries early in last week's 32-3 loss against Mars Hill. Limestone has struggled to consistenly move the ball on offense, averaging 271 yards per game which is the second-lowest total in the league.

The Bears don't have any problem moving the ball as their 487.2 yards per game is nearly 74 yards per game more than second-place Tusculum. LR also leads the league in first downs per game at 25.5, 2.5 more than second-place Wingate. McGee is just 27 yards shy of 1,000 on the season which would make him the 24th player in Lenoir-Rhyne history to top 1,000 yards in a season.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
