Hickory, NC- The Crawdads couldn’t overcome the Tourists on Saturday evening, falling 12-0 to Asheville.
The Tourists jumped on Crawdads starting pitcher Avery Weems right away. They scored four in the first, four in the second and two in the third off of Weems. Nic Laio entered the game in the fourth, giving up two runs in his first inning of work to bring the score to 12-0. He settled down for three scoreless frames before handing the ball to Justin Marsden for the final six outs.
On offense, the Crawdads were quiet, collecting just five hits. Blaine Crim, Frainyer Chavez, and Jake Guenther all hit singles. Jose Acosta had a triple and Jared Walker picked up a two-out double in the ninth.
The series will wrap up tomorrow with an Independence Day Extravaganza presented by Mumy Financial and Kicks 103.3. The seating bowl and group areas are sold out but standing room tickets are still available for $5.
