Here are the results from day 2 of the Cal Ripken State Tournaments concerning Equip Ministries....

U8 -- The U8 team earned a split on Friday. They defeated East Lincoln 20-13 in their first tame. Chase Howard went 5-for-5, and Hudson Hunter went 4-for-4 in the opener. The team combined for 19 runs-batted-in. Equip made 19 hits in the win.

In their second game, the third round of tournament play. the U8 team lost to Matthews, 20-7. Equip had 15 hits in the loss. Collin Winebarger, Chase Howard, Silas Norman, Greyson Powers, and Hunter Mast-Blevins had multiple hit games. Winebarger was Equip's leading hitter, going 3-for-3. The U8 team plays South Rowan today at 3 p.m., with the winner advancing to the semifinals.

U10 -- The U10 team picked up a pair of wins on Friday. They defeated Davidson 8-0 in the second round, and they knocked off blasted Bunker Hill 25-5 in third-round play. Isaac Gutschall got the win in the opener. Equip made seven hits; Quinn Woods was the winning pitcher in game two. Equip made 14 hits in the win. They play Pineville today at 1 p.m.

U9 -- The U9 team defeated Surry County by the mercy rule, 12-2. Levi Long picked up the win; Solemon Coleman walked it off with a bases-loaded triple that gave Equip its 10-run lead. The U9 team plays Waxhaw this morning at 11 a.m.

U11 -- The Equip  U11 team won their seccond-round game on Friday, beating Iredell County, 15-3.  Coy Greer and Zack Woody both went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double each.  Fourteen of their 15 runs were earned. Jack Bridgeman earned the win, striking out three batters; Riley Woods closed for the save with two strikeouts.  Equip plays Union County today.

U12 -- The U12 team defeated Davidson 8-2 Friday night. Bryce Scheffler went 2-for-2 with two doubles and three runs. scored Hunter Townsend tossed 3.2 innings of scoreless ball allowing three hits, with a pair walks and five strikeouts. Equip plays Matthews today at 3 p.m.. Bracket play begins after that game.
