JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A trio of App State track & field athletes competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, hosted by North Florida, over the weekend.

Peighton Simmons paced the Mountaineers in the triple jump on Saturday. Simmons covered 40-8.75 (12.41m) on her third and final jump of the afternoon. The mark represents her second best of the season and placed her 33rd in the field of 48 jumpers.

Simmons sees her season end with Sun Belt title in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump. She became the first Mountaineers to complete the feat since the 2010 season.

Maya Hanks also competed on Saturday in the triple jump for App State and did not place. Hanks earned Third Team All-Sun Belt honors earlier this season in the triple jump and is tied for the seventh-best mark in program history in the event (41-7.00; 12.67m).

Eric Haddock Jr. also competed in the triple jump on Friday and did not place. Haddock earned his first trip to the NCAA East Preliminary Round and placed fifth at the Sun Belt Championships with a mark of 48-7.50 (14.82m). His mark of 50-5.50 (15.38m) at the USC Open in April ranks eighth all-time in the event.
