The Watauga High girl's basketball team faces a huge challenge tonight following Monday's night's disappointing home loss against Hickory. That loss denied WHS the chance of nailing down the No. 2 seed in the Northwestern Conference Tournament, which begins next week. WHS begins the night in second place, but with a one-half game lead on the Red Tornadoes for second place. Hickory entertains Alexander Central. The Ashe County girls, who  begin the night in a four-way tie for first place in the Mountain Valley Conference have a big match up with West Wilkes in West Jefferson; the Caldwell Tech men's basketball team moves up another notch in the NJCAA D-I Poll.
