Watauga High seniors Cailey Haas and Jackson Greene were honored on Tuesday as the Hall of Fame and Trailblazer Award winners for the 2018-19 school year. Haas played basketball and soccer this past season. Haas, who really stepped up her game last season, averaged 10.2 points a game, and shot 43 percent from the floor on a WHS basketball team that went 17-10, and she scored three goals, and had a 2.6 goals against average on a WHS soccer team that went 13-1 in the Northwestern Conference and shared a league championship with Hickory.

 

Greene played football and basketball this past season. Greene had a stellar senior year with the football team. He amassed more than 1,300 yards on offense and was responsible for 15 touchdowns. Defensively, Greene, who will walk on at Appalachian State in the fall, made 73 tackles, including 46 solo stops with three tackles-for-loss, and he had a team-high five interceptions with two fumble recoveries. In basketball, Greene was tied for fourth on the team with 18 steals, and he was fifth on the team with 20 assists.
