|Crawdads Drop Fourth Straight|

The Hickory Crawdads, who began the second half of the South Atlantic League season with a league-best 13-2 record, have hit a snag. the Crawdads dropped their fourth consecutive game Monday night in a 9-2 loss to the Lexington Legends at L.P. Frans Stadium.
But despite their recent skid, Hickory (54-34 overall; 13-6 second half of the South Atlantic League) still remains in a three-way tie for first place in the Northern Division of the SAL with the Greensboro Greenhoppers and the Kannapolis Intimidators.
Lexington (36-53; 7-12) wasted no time jumping on top. They scored two runs on three hits against starting and losing pitcher Cole Wiper (5-7) of the Crawdads in the top of the first inning. The Legends doubled their lead doubled to with two more runs in the third.
A fielding error by 'Dads second baseman Janluis Castro, and a throwing error by first baseman Ronald Guzman plated both unearned runs.
Joe Jackson got Hickory on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the third, but the Legends answered back with another run in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth to take a 7-1 lead.
Crawdads reliever Scott Williams made his professional debut in the eighth, and was roughed up for two runs on one hit with a pair of walks. Hickory's Travis Demeritte lined his league-leading 18th home run of the year in the bottom of the ninth.
Wiper coughed up a season-high seven runs on seven hits in just 4.1 innings. Lexington starter Matt Tenuta (4-7) earned the win, He gave up a run on three hits during his 5.2 innings. The Crawdads and the Legends meet up again on Tuesday for game two of their three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
