The Avery High football team has released its football schedule for the upcoming season.



The Vikings, led by head coach Darryl Brewer (65-64 record), now in his 11th year, open the season with the Vikings' Jamboree at MacDonald Stadium in Newland on Monday, August 11. The Vikings will play in the Carter County Jamboree at Hampton (TN) High School on Friday, August 15.


The Vikings open the season at home against Cloudland (TN) on Friday, August 22; the first road game will be at Watauga on September 12; the Western Highlands 1A-2A Conference game will be at Black Mountain-Owen on Friday, September 26.


The Vikings will host "Little League Night" on September 5 when Thomas Jefferson comes to town; the Vikings will play their Homecoming game against Hendersonville on Friday, October 10.


The Vikings were 5-8 last season; Avery hasn't had a winning season since 2010.
