The Ashe County High boys's golf team finished its season Tuesday at the NCHSAA Class 2A Midwest Regional in Salisbury. The Huskies had a team score of 361 and did not qualify for the state




South Stokes fired a 302 and won the regional championship. The Sauras advance to the Class 2A state championships at the Longleaf Golf & Country Club in Southern Pines, N.C., next Monday and Tuesday.


Salisbury and West Stokes will join South Stokes at the state championships. Salisbury finished second with a 306; West Stokes finished third with a 311.


Chandler Metz (Wilkes Central 2014 Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Golfer of the Year) advanced to the 2A state championship match as an individual, by shooting a 74. Alleghany advanced to 1a state championship match.


Jacob Worley led the Huskies on Tuesday with 12-over-par 84; Abel Warner fired an 87, and Zach Lawrence had a 91.


We are going miss our seniors, Brandon Badger, Caleb Carter, Brandon Jones, Zach Lawrence and Ethan Warner," said Ashe County coach Laura Foster. "They were a huge part of our success this season."
