Webb Win Pole Vault Title at Track Championships PDF Print

Lees-McRae senior Evan Webb cruised to a victory in the pole vault while freshman Joshua Godwin finished fifth in the men’s shot put on day two of the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championships Saturday in Banner Elk, N.C.




Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) pleased the home crowd when he earned the victory in the pole vault after clearing 4.90 meters. The senior bested his next closest competitor by 1.05 meters.


Godwin (Pleasant Grove, N.C.) notched a fifth-place finish with a heave of 12.52 meters in the shot put and claimed 13th in the discus with a toss of 32.02 meters.


Teammate Ryan Trask (Cobleskill, N.Y.) capped off his impressive weekend with a seventh place finish in the discus with a throw of 37.10 meters.


Senior Tyler Dunn (Jasper, Ga.) finished 10th in the 1,500-meter run by clocking a time of 4:25.34.


Junior Joshua Soto (Aiken, S.C.) completed the 100-meter dash in 11.50 seconds, which led to a seventh place finish.


Mount Olive (172) eased to a team victory while North Greenville (129) was the only other team to break 100 points. Limestone (99) and King (95) remained close throughout the entirety of the event while Belmont Abbey (48), Barton (37) and LMC (36) completed the field.
