The Watuaga High girls' lacrosse team nearly pulled on off on Saturday afternoon. But the Pioneers (0-3) came up short as the Asheviille Girls Lacrosse Club beat them 11-10 on a rainy afternoon at Leigh

Wallace Memorial Field.

And WHS coach Holley Quick tinkered with her lineup, and the move nearly paid off.

"(I purposely sat out our experienced juniors to get more playing experience for some of the younger girls," Quick said. "We were also missing two of our experienced sophomores."

AGL led 7-4 at halftime.

Cami Hastings, Molly Gilleskie and Elizabeth Vilas each had two goals apiece. Katelyn Nguyen, Roxie Topper, Bishop Grit and Alyssa Perez each had a goal.

Goalkeepers Meghan Bisignani and Sarah Williams each played one half. Bisignani made nine saves in the first half; Williams made five in the second half.
