It was a tough debut for new Watauga High boys' lacrosse coach Brett Green and the Pioneers. WHS (0-2) was bested by Lake Norman Charter 20-1 Friday night in its season opener at Leigh Wallace Memorial Field.

Zack Williams scored WHS' only goal Friday night; Goalie Andrew Stratton made seven stops in the loss.

The Pioneers lost at Charlotte-Ardrey Kell 16-5 on Saturday. Williams and Ben Henson each had two goals apiece; Canyon Mueller had a goal; Stratton made 17 stops in the loss.

"I'm not too worried right now," Green said. "These two teams are probably among the top ten teams in the state. I'm not gonna to panic just yet."

The Pioneers take on Charlotte-South Mecklenburg at home Monday night at 6 p.m.; the WHS girls open their season Monday night at R.J. Reynolds in Winston-Salem, N.C.
