The Watauga High boy's and girl's track teams competed at an indoor meet at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Friday.
The WHS girls had 11 top-ten finishes and four top-five finishes; the WHS boys had 16 top-ten finishes and seven top-five finishes.
Alison Seramur paced the WHS girls by winning the pole vault with an effort of nine-feet, six-inches. Seramur has finished first in every meet this season, but one. Her best effort of the year, at least so far, 10-6. Savanna Randle finished third in the girls 55-meter dash (7.69 seconds); Lily Weeks finished third in the girl's 500-meter run (1:29.43), and WHS' 4x400-meter relay team (Finley Collins, Weeks and Randle) finished third in 4:42.76.
The WHS boys were paced by their 4x800 relay team (no team members were listed), which finished third in 8:57.14; Zach Styron finished fourth in the boy's 55-meter hurdles (8.43 seconds). Matthew Hillenbrand finished fifth in the boy's 500 (1:15.07), and Jacob Soule finished fifth in the boy's 1,000-meter run in 2:51.39.
Matt Osborne turned in a sixth-place finish in the 1,000 (2:52.87) and Michael Holland was seventh (2:57.86). Zach Pifer finished fifth in the high jump (5-4) and Justin Hall finished fifth in the pole vault (9-0).
The Pioneers will compete at the Mountaineer Open at the Holmes Convocation Center next Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
