|Georgia College Nips L-R, 76-72|

VThe Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team (5-3) suffered a 76-72 loss to Georgia College (4-4) Saturday night on the first day of the Finis Horne Holiday Classic at Horne Arena.
The Bobcats' Ryan Blumenthal (Kennesaw, Ga.) led all scorers with 25 points as Georgia College overcame a 37-36 deficit at halftime to take the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne was led by sophomore guard Will Perry (Wake Forest, N.C.) with a career-high 24 points while junior forward K.T. Carter (Seattle, Wash.) added 12 points in the losing effort.
With the score tied at 40 with 18:23 left in the second half, Georgia College took control with a 15-0 run and held on at the very end to win. The Bears cut the lead to two points twice - 72-70 and 74-72 - with 17 seconds remaining but couldn't get any closer.
Larrentis Thomas (McDonough, Ga.) scored 17 points as well for the Bobcats, who showed good balance with four players reaching double figures in the contest. Blumenthal also hit all 12 free throw attempts as Georgia College finished 28-of-32 (88 percent) from the charity stripe.
The Bears finished with four players in double figures as well and turned the ball over just five times despite the loss.
On the final day of the tournament on Sunday afternoon, Georgia College takes on Coastal Georgia (1:30 p.m.) before Lenoir-Rhyne faces the host school, Lander, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
