Lenoir-Rhyne's Joe Anderson has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Football Division II Second Team as selected by the College Sports

Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Anderson, a junior defensive back from Lilburn, Georgia, is an economics major with a 3.70 grade point average.

Anderson is one of the team's starting cornerbacks who is currently fourth on the squad in tackles with 71 to go along with six pass break-ups, one quarterback sack and one interception this fall. L-R is ranked fourth in the country in scoring defense at 14.3 points per game.

In his two years as a defender, Anderson has totaled 129 tackles, 15 pass break-ups and three interceptions including one returned for a score and has been a part of two South Atlantic Conference Championship Teams (2012-13).

Lenoir-Rhyne (11-1), ranked No. 13 in NCAA Division II, will host 16th-ranked North Alabama (10-2) in the NCAA Division II National Quarterfinals this Saturday at Moretz Stadium beginning at Noon. The Bears have won 11 straight games.

The Capital One Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2013-14 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
