The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team (4-2, 3-1) defeated Brevard (1-5, 1-3), 78-65, Wednesday night at Boshamer Gymnasium in a South Atlantic Conference game.
The Bears used good balance with five players scoring in double figures and were led by senior guard Jarvis Perry (Willingboro, N.J.) and senior center Matt Kunz (Kernersville, N.C.) with 14 points each in the victory.
Perry added 10 rebounds and seven assists for a double-double while junior guard Lawrence Miller (Gastonia, N.C.) came off the bench to score 13 points as the Bears rallied from an 11-2 deficit to start the game en route to the win. Miller scored 11 points in the first half.
Brevard's Darius Moose (Salisbury, N.C.) led all scorers with 19 points and Dominique Pickett (Thomasville, N.C.) finished with 17 points but the Tornados were just six-of-29 (21 percent) from behind the three-point line in the setback.
The Bears broke a 36-all tie at intermission with an 11-2 run to start the second half capped off by a lay-up by Perry and remained in control throughout the rest of the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne, which also held a 40-29 advantage in rebounding on the night, received 10 points from both sophomore forward Rob Noyes (Morganton, N.C.) and senior guard R.J. McClure (Canton, N.C.) as well.
Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Carson-Newman in a South Atlantic Conference game on Saturday, December 14, at 6:00 p.m., at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. Brevard remains at home to take on league-foe Queens on Saturday, December 14, as well beginning at 4:00 p.m.
