Blowing Rock resident and Reebok/ZAP Fitness athlete Tyler Pennel had the best race of his young career on Sunday as he finished third at the inaugural U.S. National Road Running Championship. Pennel finished the 12-kilometer race (7.5 miles) in 34-minutes, 37-seconds, an average of 4:39 per mile.
Pennel only finished nine seconds behind the winner, Aaron Braun of Colorado. The race took place along Alexandria,
VA's historic Potomac River waterfront.
"Tyler took some risks today and they paid great dividends," said Zap Head Coach Pete Rea. "Top three in that field is an exceptional run."
