The Watuaga High athletic department has announced that Friday, November 1 will be Pioneer Pride Night at Jack Groce Stadium.


Pioneer Pride night is an addition to what will all ready be a very busy evening at Jack Groce Stadium.

It will be Senior Night as the Pioneers take on Hickory in the final home football game of the regular season, and it will also be Pack The Pantries Night for Watauga County and the Watauga Humaine Society.

On top of that, WHS will also be honoring the 1978 state championship team and its coach Bill Mauldin. And the Pioneers will also recognize the 2006 and 2007 WHS teams that reached the Class 4A western finals, and their coach Adrian Snow (who is currently the head coach at West Forsyth).

And two of the greatest players ever to play for the Pioneers, Eric Breitenstein, who backboned WHS to those western championship games, and Danny Triplett, who played on WHS' state championship team, will have their respective jerseys retired that night.
