Appalachian State University volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to Wofford on Saturday night in Varsity Gym. Wofford took the lead early in the first set and did not give it up, leading Appalachian as much as five points. The Mountaineers fought back late in the set, down by only two points with a score of 23-21. The rally would not be
enough for the Apps as Wofford took the first set 25-22.
The second set would prove to be a battle, featuring five tied scores. Appalachian took the 6-3 lead before the Terriers were able to tie up the score at seven. Wofford took the 15-14 lead and never looked back, winning the second set 25-21.
Despite the Mountaineers taking an early 2-0 lead in the third set, Wofford would continue to score. With the score tied at seven, the Terriers took the lead for the rest of the set, winning the third 25-18 and taking the match 3-0.
Lauren Gray led the team in kills, recording 10, followed by Lindsey Sauls with nine. Meghan Mahoney tallied 17 digs on the night and Paige Brown notched 36 assists for the Mountaineers.
Wofford's Wendy Burnett and Taylor Baird led the match in kills, each recording 11. Jessica Graham tallied a match-high 20 digs for the Terriers.
