Defensive back Ed Gainey, who played at Appalachian State University, was placed on injuried reserve by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League on last Friday, Ocotber 4. Gainey, in his second
season with the Als has made tackles this season and he returned a fumble 38 yards for a touchdown this season on July 12.
Gainey played in five games for the Als last season and he made three special teams tackles. He is expected to rejoin the team on Sunday. Gainey signed with the Als on May 3, 2012.
Wide receiver/kick returner Dexter Jackson, who played for the Mountaineers and spent the preseason as a member of the Carolina Panthers in 2009 before he was released, has been released from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice squad. Jackson, who was signed on August 11, was released on September 9.
Jackson was originally a second-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008. He played for the Virginia Destoryers and former National Football League coach Marty Schottenheimer in the United Football League in 2011. He had two stints on the New York Jets practice squad in 2012.
