After experiencing great success prior to Tuesday night, the Wilkes County 11-12 softball All-Stars fell in defeat to the Southwestern representative, Waco, TX by a score of 9-5 in the second of two Little League World Series Semi-final matchups.

The game, played in Portland, Oregon, paired the Wilkes team, the first ever team from North Carolina to reach the World Series with Waco, a team that has won the World Series a record eleven times, the last coming in 2004.  Committing an uncharacteristic seven errors, the ladies from Wilkesboro could not generate enough runs despite outhitting their opponents.  As a result, Waco moves to Wednesday's championship game against Sterling, IL.  Wilkes plays Wednesday afternoon in the 3rd-place game against the Phillipines, a team they beat earlier in the tournament by a score of 16-1.
