The 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads topped the Charleston RiverDogs, 4-1, before 2,508 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Monday night.

Both teams' starting pitchers--Cody Buckel of the Crawdads and Shane Greene of Charleston--battled through a scoreless pitching dual in the first five innings.  Buckel struck out nine through his five inning stint, scattering just five hits and walking one.  Greene finished with six strikeouts and three walks, along with five hits allowed.
The RiverDogs (48-72, 22-28) finally broke through with a run in the bottom of the sixth against Ben Rowen (4-4), who got the win in relief. Kevin Mahoney led off with a single and moved to third on a double by Kelvin De Leon.  Mahoney charged in the final ninety feet on an RBI ground out by Kyle Higashioka that gave Charleston a 1-0 lead.
The Crawdads (67-51, 27-23) responded in the top of the seventh against losing pitcher Tommy Kahnle (2-5).  With one out, Braxton Lane and Jurickson Profar drew consecutive walks, putting runners at first and second base.  Jake Skole delivered a run-scoring ground-rule double that bounced over the right-center field wall to score Lane and tie game at 1-1.  Odubel Herrera followed with a two-run double that gave Hickory a 3-1. Herrera advanced to third on an error and later scored on an RBI single by Alejandro Selen cappiing off the rally and stretching the Crawdads lead at 4-1.
