'Dogs top 'Dads, 4-1 PDF Print

The 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads fell to the Charleston River Dogs, 4-1, before 3,758 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Sunday evening.  The game was delayed for 57 minutes in the top of the third due to inclement weather.

The River Dogs (48-71, 22-27) took an early lead with a two-out rally in the bottom of the second against losing pitcher Joe Van Meter (5-5).  After Eduardo Sosa extended the inning with a double, Jose Mojica cracked the scoreless tie with an RBI single to make it 1-0.
Charleston added on to its lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third following a rain delay.  With two on and one out, Kevin Mahoney had an RBI single that brought in Ramon Flores from second base.  One out later, Anderson Feliz kept the inning going with a walk, loading the bases. Johnson misfired with a wild pitch to score the stanza's second run that made it 3-0.
The Crawdads (66-51, 26-23) got on the board in the top of the fourth against Francisco Rondon.  With two outs, Jake Skole kept the inning alive with a walk.  Skole then raced all the way home from first on an RBI double to right field by Alejandro Selen that made it 3-1.
However, the River Dogs responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Jeff Farnham doubled with one out, and then moved to third on a ground out. He scored on a wild pitch to give Charleston a 4-1 lead.
NOTES: The 'Dads continue a four-game road series against the River Dogs in Charleston on Monday at 7:05 p.m.....Hickory starts a four-game home series against the Lexington Legends this Thursday at L.P. Frans Stadium.  It is Thirsty Thursday, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, featuring $1 can beers and fountain Pepsis. It will be Biker Night, with all fans riding a motorcycle to the game receiving a Half Off Ticket. Also, Banned on Wednesday will be performing live on the concourse after the game! First Pitch is at 7 p.m., gates open at 6 p.m.
