Madison Bumgarner coughed up five runs in the first inning Saturday night as the Cincinnati Red defeated the San Francisco Giants 7-2 at Great America Ball Park.

Bumgarner (6-10) lasted four innings in suffering the loss. It was his worst outing since June 21 when the Minnesota Twins roughed him up for eight runs in the first inning. Bumgarner gave up seven runs, five earned on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
The Giants also dropped their second game in a row in the series (they lost 4-3 in 13 innings Friday night). Arizona defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 Saturday night, and the Diamondbacks now find themselves trailing the Giants (61-46) by three games for first place in the National League West.
Carlos Beltran was 0-5 with a strikeout. He's 1 for 14 in three games with the Giants since being traded from the Mets on Thursday. Bumgarner is scheduled to pitch August 4 when the Giants return home to play the Philadelphia Phillies.
