Elliott, Wineberg, Yackey fall in semifinals PDF Print

Micheal Elliott and Joshua Wineberg of Ashe County High were upended in the Class 2A semifinals at the State Wrestling Championships at the Greensboro Coliseum.


Elliott dropped a 2-1 decision to Andrew Molina of Randleman at 119 pounds; Wineberg was bested by Joseph Graves of Topsail 5-3 in their semifinal bout at 215 pounds.
Both Elliott and Wineberg now fall into the consolation semifinals. Dakota Elliott, who had worked his way into a third-place semifinal match after losing in the quarterfinals on Friday at 130 pounds, takes on Austin Collins of North Surry.
In Class 1A, Brock Yackey of Avery was bested by Jamie Lemon of Central Academy 4-2 in their semifinal match at 135 pounds. We will have more updates later this afternoon.
