Phyllis “Diane” Sloop Porter, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the home of her son.

She was born November 4th, 1949 to William Nathan Sloop and Velna Mae Stone Sloop. Diane was a 1967 graduate of North Wilkes High School. She graduated from Artistic Beauty Academy in 1968. She was a Cosmetologist for over 22 years. She started her career working for Super Hair. In 1973, she opened and operated Diane's Beauty Shop out of her home. In 1984, she was hired to open and manage the JC Penney's Beauty Salon at Wilkes Mall. In 1985, Diane left Cosmetology after the birth of her youngest son. She was also a founding member and President of the Shepherd's Cross Roads Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She began a new career in farming. For many years, she ran a small family poultry farm, until her health began to decline.

Diane loved: God, baking, sewing, canning, painting, and most of all, her three wonderful children, and her only grandchild. The Lord truly blessed her family by choosing Diane to be their mother and grandmother. Her spirit will live on, forever, through her family and friends.

Diane was welcomed into Heaven, and met by her parents and grandparents, that had gone before her. Diane leaves behind her three children, LeVel Porter, Billy Porter (Misty), Cary Porter (Christy), and granddaughter, Emily Parsons Stanley (Andrew).

If I should go tomorrow
It would never be goodbye.
For I have left my heart with you,
So don't you ever cry.
The love that's deep within me,
Shall reach you from the stars.
You'll feel it from the heaven,
And it will heal the scars.
