Ruth Johnson McHargue, age 80, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville.

Mrs. McHargue was born November 3, 1939 in Wilkes County to Smith and Stella Johnson. She loved making crafts and currently the oldest living member of Hunting Creek Baptist church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband; Donald Ray McHargue, three brothers; Harrison, John, and George, seven sisters; Emily McHargue, Rebecca Dickens, Dora Martin, Hester Warren, Mable Holliman, Fannie Roope, and Carolyn Sheets.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with Rev. William Souther and Rev. Charles Younce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 3:00 PM, prior to the service. Pallbears; Logan McHargue, Dusty Campbell, T.A. Adams, Dan Farcassi, Tim Roope, Marty Johnson, Bill Edwards, and Alex Johnson, Honorary Pallbearers; Silas Campbell and Tommy Johnson. Flowers will be accepted.

Mrs. McHargue is survived by; one daughter; Stellena McHargue, North Wilkesboro, one son; Russell R. McHargue, (Tonia Royal), North Wilkesboro, two sisters; Annie Johnson, and Lucille Rhoades of North Wilkesboro, two brothers; Charlie Johnson (Sharon), of Tennessee, Tommy Johnson, (Dottie), North Wilkesboro, grandchildren; Logan McHargue, (Michaelia), Shelby, NC, Dusty Campbell, (Nora), North Wilkesboro, Breanna Adams, (“T.A.”) of North Wilkesboro, Victoria Fracassi, (Dan), of North Wilkesboro, Russell McHargue, of Laurenburg, Katy McHargue (Jamel) of North Wilkesboro, Bill Edwards, (Asheigh), of Statesville, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
