Clarice Thompson Emley, age 108, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Gulf View Hospice Center in New Port Richey, Florida.

She was born March 27, 1911 in Alleghany County to the late Clarence and Mary Collins Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herb Emley. Clarice went to New Port Richey, Florida in 1959 and taught until her retirement in 1972. She had taught previously in North Carolina and in Nashville, Tennessee. She was a lifetime member of NEA, a member of the FREA, and of the Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the Community Congregational Church in New Port Richey and the Sparta Presbyterian Church in North Carolina. She enjoyed traveling and her music. During her later years she has enjoyed living and being involved in many activities at Atria Senior Living Baypoint in Hudson, Florida. She is survived by three nieces, Norma T. Price of Asheville, Helen T. Duncan of Charlotte, and Page T. Worthington of Ayden. The family requests the honor of your presence at the graveside service to celebrate the life of Clarice at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Glade Valley Church Cemetery with Reverend Frank Wyche officiating.
