Albert C. Waters, age 87, of Paradise Peninsula Road, Mooresville, a native and former resident of Watauga County, passed away Tuesday morning, February 26, 2019, at his home.

A couple of weeks ago Papaw said he was ready to go home and not to the mountains but to his heavenly home. God heard his plea. Albert slipped peacefully into the presence of his Lord.

Papaw was born in Vilas North Carolina to his loving parents Henry and Mamie Waters December 10, 1931. He is the first born of six siblings. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen McGuire. Surviving are sisters Grace Ward of Vilas NC, and sister Dot and.husband Lane Edminsten of Sugar Grove NC. Brother Clifford and wife Joyce Waters reside in Sebring Florida. He is preceded in death by his younger brother Harold Waters. They were raised in a very loving Christian home and learned to work the tobacco fields and learned how to raise a garden.

They were all members of Mountain Dale Baptist Church where he gave his heart and soul to the Lord Jesus as a young teen.

Later in life Papaw met the love of his life Joann Hollars. They married and raised four children. Gary, Larry, Troy and Kristy. Nanny and Papaw had such a love for children that they were also foster parents to many children who were blessed to be under their care.

He is survived by his wife who has been a strong prayerful mate.

Albert was a man of strong work ethics. He along with his brother Clifford Waters started "Waters Construction" back in the early 1970's. When you love what your’re doing you stay with it! He did construction work for 45 years plus. The High Country now enjoys the beauty of Linville Ridge, Seven Oaks, Ole Keller Farm just to name a few.

The things that Papaw held close to his heart were his relationships with family and friends. He would do anything for you. Obstacles and struggles come in this life and he would encourage us to look to the Lord for guidance. His grandchildren were such a highlight to his life. He loved you Wendy, Amber, Christian, Chasten, Abella, Bruce, Amariss and Mylan. He was also blessed with 9 great grandchildren. You will surely be missed.

Papaw was a soft spoken man who loved Jesus and bluegrass music! That always put a smile on his face! His prayer and desire for all of his children is that we can all meet again and celebrate the life he is now living! And we can by simply asking the Lord to be our Savior.
