Edwin Quinn Orndoff, age 69, of Fox Den Lane, the Halltown community in Spruce Pine died Sunday, May 13, 2018 at his home following a period of declining health.

Born on March 24, 1949 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Graham Webster and Nadgie Quinn Orndoff. Ed grew up in Mitchell County and after graduation from Harris High School in 1967, attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte prior to beginning his career as a successful business owner.

Ed was a kind hearted man who touched many lives through his caring nature and generosity that was most often kept private. The last twenty-four years of his life he devoted to loving and providing for his only daughter, Katie. Ed was the owner of Landmark Lumber Company in Spruce Pine. He was a self-taught historian, skilled hunter, and avid sports fan.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter; Katherine ‘Katie’ Orndoff of Raleigh; his brother; Mike Orndoff and wife, Joyce of Spruce Pine; his nephews; Jason Orndoff and wife, Nikki of Hickory and Greg Orndoff of Spruce Pine; and his great nephew; Graham Orndoff of Hickory.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Ed Orndoff on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens
