 In an effort to promote traffic safety around popular tourist destinations in Watauga County, the State Highway Patrol is responding to parking violations with both education and enforcement.

Over the next few weeks, Boone Fire Department will be conducting several Live Burn Trainings on Marich Lane in the area of Perkinsville Drive and Clawson Street. Significant fire and smoke will be visible in the area of 421 S, 194 N, and New Market Centre. Boone Fire urges motorists to use caution when driving in the area.

 Results from the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s annual deer harvest summary indicate hunters across the state reported harvesting 168,427 deer during the 2021-22 hunting season — a 6.3% increase compared to the average harvest the last three seasons.

On Sunday, May 8, at approximately 12:40 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Caldwell County on Abington Road near Beecher Anderson Road.

On Saturday May 7, 2022 at 7:07 PM, the Lenoir Police Department responded to a call of a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Hickory Boulevard, near the Hibriten Drive overpass. When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they located two subjects with injuries.

After a two-year hiatus from hosting its traditional graduation ceremony, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute returned to the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir Saturday to celebrate more than 1,000 graduates from its Caldwell Campus and Watauga Campus during two ceremonies.
