Blasting operations are underway on some days on Highway 105 South as part of the new Watauga River Bridge project near Broadstone Road in Watauga County. There are a number of road work projects in Avery County this summer as well.

North Carolina DOT will be resurfacing North Carolina Highway 184 and Highway 194 in Banner Elk, Highway 105 to Watauga County and toward Elk Valley, and US highway 19E from Roaring Creek to Highway 194 in Ingalls.

Several secondary roads in Avery will also get new surfaces in the Linville and Heaton areas.

Project dates vary with contractor and time frames are dependent on the weather.

Drivers can expect delays in these areas this summer, and use caution traveling through work zones.
