A suspect in a recent car chase from Caldwell County to the Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway has been arrested.

The Watauga Democrat reports Sheldon Scott Wagner, age 41, of Hudson, was arrested and charged with flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle, driving while licensed revoked, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and assault with deadly weapon of government official.

Wagner was issued a Dec. 14 court date and a $60,000 secured bond.

On Nov. 19 Watauga Sheriff's Office was notified of a vehicle pursuit of a stolen 2005 Ford F-450 aviation fuel tanker in Caldwell County.

Watauga Deputies intercepted the pursuit on Hwy 321 South after successfully deploying spike strips.

Wagner turned onto the Parkway and nearly struck two patrol deputy’s vehicles.

The pursuit ended more than 12 miles later at the Lynn Cove Viaduct, and Wagner gave up without incident.

Additional charges are expected by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office and possibly the US Park Service.
