An Elk Park man has been charged in the death of a Beech Mountain woman.

The Avery Journal reports Levi Hicks, age 33, has been charged with one count of murder, one count of felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and one count of felony possession of methamphetamine.

The charges against Hicks are related to an investigation into the death of Betsy Dellinger, reported on November 12.

According to the report, Beech Mountain Police responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive woman at 103 Upper Holiday Lane.

Dellinger was found on the floor of the home, unresponsive and not breathing.

Hicks is being held by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office in Elizabethton, Tennessee on unrelated charges and is awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
