A number of Blowing Rock citizens have signed a petition to be presented to the Blowing Rock Town Council asking for the town to address speeding and noise along US 321 through town.

High Country Press reports 286 people have signed the petition asking that the council take substantial and active measures to address the issues.

According to the report, the petition will be presented at Tuesday's council meeting, and Blowing Rock Chief of Police Aaron Miller will give an update on traffic enforcement in the town.

Blowing Rock Town Manager Shane Fox said that new permanent radar signs will be installed coming into town from both Caldwell County and from Boone.

Fox estimated that between 8,000 and 10,000 cars travel Highway 321 through Blowing Rock each day. With that much traffic Fox says, there really isn’t much that can be done in terms of noise complaints.

The Blowing Rock Town Council meeting is Tuesday October 12 at 6 pm, and can be viewed online at TownOfBlowingRockNC.gov.
