Watauga County Emergency Management is asking the public to take part in a survey about public perception of hazards, and actions to mitigate those hazards, in Watauga County and the High Country.

Watauga Online reports the High Country Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan must be updated and resubmitted to FEMA for approval every five years in order for Watauga and other counties to receive federal funding in the event of a disaster.
