AppHealthCare's weekly COVID-19 update was released Friday.

Watauga, Ashe and Alleghany continue to be considered High Community Transmission counties.

In Watauga, 54% are fully or partially vaccinated, while 46% are unvaccinated.

AppHealthCare is monitoring an outbreak at the Thunder Hill Residence Hall at App State, where there are 7 active cases, and 2 active cases in the Watauga Dentention Center. As of September 3, there were 150 active cases in Watauga.

In Ashe County, 51% are unvaccinated. There is one active case among the 8 total in the Ashe Huskies Football cluster. Ashe had 83 active cases September 3.

Across the state, the rate of new cases per 100,000 people is down 23% from the previous week, and the death rate per 100,000 is down 29%.
