COVID-19 cases around the High Country are increasing.

High Country Press reports that as of Wednesday, there were 18 active cases and 18 others are being actively monitored in Watauga.

According to the report, Ashe has eight active cases with six others being monitored and Alleghany has two active cases with one person being monitored.

According to the NCDHHS County Alert Map, Ashe, Alleghany, Avery and Mitchell Counties remain GREEN, low impact, and Watauga is LIGHT YELLOW, indicating moderate impact.

Health officials continue to urge anyone that hasn’t been vaccinated yet to schedule an appointment.

The vaccine can be gotten at any AppHealthCare location in Alleghany, Ashe and Watauga counties.

Walk-ins are welcome also, from 8 till 4, but there may be a wait time.

You can also get a vaccination at many local drug stores and medical facilities all across the High Country.
