The Watauga County Second Annual National Night Out will take place August 3 at Watauga High School.

High Country Press reports that after last year's scheduled event was cancelled due to COVID-19, this year's event will feature music and food trucks, k-9 demonstrations, bounce house, kids crafts and more, including a helicopter fly-in.

Local law enforcement agencies will be joining forces with thousands of other communities across the country.

Since 1984, National Night Out has been bringing communities together to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

Coordinator Sgt. Casey Miller with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Department said that local businesses and organizations are invited to come together, also, to donate food and services for the event.
