The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games is expected to return this summer.

High Country Press reports the games are scheduled to return to MacRae Meadows in Linville July 8-12. All attendees are strongly encouraged to receive their COVID-19 vaccine prior to attending the games.

According to the report, there will be numerous hand sanitizing stations set up at various locations.

Three of the traditional indoor events have been canceled - the Patron’s Reception, the Scottish Country Dance Gala and the Scottish Cultural Village.

Onsite camping will be allowed July 2-12 at 80 percent capacity to allow for additional space between campsites.

Shuttles from Linville and Boone to the Games will be available, you must wear a mask in order to ride the bus and while waiting for the bus.

Patrons will be required to wear masks in the bleachers, in the hospitality tent, waiting in line for food and visiting the music groves.
