The Blue Ridge Brutal committee is moving forward with hopes for the 2021 Brutal Bike Ride, currently set for August. The Blue Ridge Brutal opened early registration on March 1.

There are also opportunities for volunteers for the event. The Blue Ridge Brutal is not for the fainthearted.

All of the Rides – 102, 72 or 56 miles, will take you onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and over many hills. As such, all these Rides can be considered challenging to strenuous. However, you can balance the pain with the joy of riding through some of the most beautiful scenery in North Carolina.

The start and finish point for all Rides is the Ashe Civic Center in West Jefferson.

There is also the "Assault on Mount Jefferson, an additional 3.4 mile challenge that is limited to 80 riders that climbs nearly 1500 feet in elevation and is comparable to a Category 2 climb.

Event organizers are continuing to monitor current COVID-19 guidelines and protocols, but for now, the Blue Ridge Brutal is scheduled to take place Saturday August 21.
