The Watauga County Board of Elections is accepting applications for election officials during the election.

High Country Press reports applications are welcome from individuals of all age groups to be front-line representatives of the Board of Election office.

According to the report, Watauga County Board of Elections Director Matt Synder said the pay rate during the Early Voting period will be around $10.50-12 an hour, and Election Day pay rate is around $9-12 an hour.

During the Early Voting period, officials will be working approximately six hour shifts, and this year, some Saturday hours will be available. One Stop Early Voting will run October 15 through the 31.

Election Day is November 3 and Synder said, they try to keep people in their own precinct to work, but sometimes they’ll be to help out another precinct.

Synder said those who want to work during Early Voting should apply by September 11, and training is September 23 and 24.
