The Blowing Rock Town Council met last Tuesday and unanimously voted to renew the contract for Art In The Park.

The Watauga Democrat reports Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Charles Hardin answered questions from the council about the event, and others voiced support for the event, that Hardin says draws from 30,000 to 35,000 visitors each year. Art In The Park has been a downtown Blowing Rock Staple for more than 50 years, and the new contract goes through 2025.

Council also discussed the installation of a storm water drain along Chestnut Drive and Morris Street. Doug Chapman of McGill Associates in Hickory presented five options to address overflow storm water, and the project would be approximately $283,000.

Council voted to examine each options’ impact before moving forward.
